Law makers in Missouri implemented a law to prevent the teachers from contacting their students through facebook or any other social network sites. Some teachers were happy about this law but some were not. Although there are still who were unflavored of this law, Missouri were still able to implement it.On my own thoughts, there are many good things about this law. First and for most, why do some teachers need to contact their students through facebook? Can't they remind their students during class hours? Or maybe you're conducting your class through facebook, do you?
One you might ask is "What's the problem of communicating students through social networks, specially facebook?". Well, it's obvious, you're called a teacher to teach the students good acts and not on how to update their status on facebook. One more thing. Anything can be found on social networking or on facebook, including sexual explicits. Is that what you want your students to learn? Hope it's not.
For me, as a concern citizen, Department of Education should make a move regarding this. DepEd should not tolerate this type of act. Make a move or you'll be the one to be blamed in the near future.
