Talking Cars Now on the Road for Testing?

Nearly 3, 000 talking cars, trucks and buses said to be already on the road for a year-long test. This project was initiated with the partnership of University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute and U.S. Department of Transportation. But this project cannot be done without the combined forces of GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Volkswagen, Hyundai/Kia and Mercedes-Benz.

Last August 21, 2012, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood officially launch the said project with proud of this incredible American innovation which they've overseen to be going to eat up a lot of dollars, $25 million.

These talking cars were specifically tested in Ann Arbor, Michigan started last August 21, 2012. With Wi-Fi installed to each of the talking cars, they will be able to communicate to each other in real time. This will also allow them to send signal if ever there will be any safety hazards.

Although mostly of the cars now-a-days were already installed with sensors and radars, GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Volkswagen, Hyundai/Kia and Mercedes-Benz upgraded those. They said that the sensors and radar with a greater capabilities are already on production.

JoeyBra - The Most Safe Place to Keep Your Phones, Cards, Keys and More

Mostly of the girls who love dancing got hustled bringing their bags or purse just to put their important stuffs like phones, money, credit cards, ID's, keys and many more. This is one of the problems our party girls are currently experiencing. But this was just solved by two junior students.

Two junior business students in University of Washington created the JoeyBra. They are Mariah Gentry and Kyle Bartlow. It is just an ordenary bra but they added a pocket on its side where you can place any of your valuables especially if you want to go to a dance party or dance club without bringing with you your bag or purse.

PRINTED PAPER THAT CAN PLAY MUSIC or BOOK A TICKET

Let me start this post with some things mentioned by Pete Thomas:
The experience of controlling music by touching the paper postcards is really engaging, much more like interacting with a record sleeve rather than a phone screen, with the experience or browsing through a collection of tracks analogous to that of browsing through a Vinyl collection. The Postcard Player becomes a pedestal for the artwork on the postcard, creating a glanceable indication of what’s playing and celebrating the artwork accompanying the track.
Now, what is so special of this post card and who is this Pete Thomas? To give you a better understanding, according to a blog Technology Techniques, Pete Thomas is the founder of a brand communications agency called "Uniform" and responsible of this amazing Paper Apps Technology. And about the post card which was mentioned by Thomas above, it is just a prototype of their ongoing development of a  Paper Apps.

Paper Apps is the latest technology which is now being develop by Uniform. This Paper Apps is composed of a normal paper printed using a special ink so called conductive ink. This conductive ink has the capability to print something and will be formed an electrical circuit which will allow people to play and listen music on the printed poster or post card.

This Paper Apps said to be one of the ways to save our music industry. For they've noticed that if a person who received a music band poster or a post card and do not know or not familiar with that band, they will just throw it away. But if they can play some of its music or songs, they might be interested. In short, this Paper Apps can be a big help of promoting.

One other usage of this Paper Apps or printed electronics is that it's not just for playing music but also users can book a ticket through it. So, isn't it one astonishing technology? For me, it's a big YES!

iPOD NANO FIRST GENERATION IS BEING RECALLED BY APPLE

Apple has determined that, in very rare cases, the battery in the iPod nano (1st generation) may overheat and pose a safety risk. Affected iPod nanos were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.

This issue has been traced to a single battery supplier that produced batteries with a manufacturing defect. While the possibility of an incident is rare, the likelihood increases as the battery ages.

Apple recommends that you stop using your iPod nano (1st gen) and follow the process noted below to order a replacement unit, free of charge.

Note: This battery issue is specific to the iPod nano (1st gen) and does not affect any other iPod.

Replacement Process

You may order a replacement unit via the web. Click here to begin.

Your iPod nano serial number will be checked to verify that it is eligible for this program. You will receive a replacement unit approximately 6 weeks after we receive your current iPod nano (1st gen).

If you have a personalized iPod nano, you will receive a non-personalized replacement. Make sure to use iTunes to back up any data on your current iPod nano before sending it in for a replacement unit.

Additional Information

Identifying an iPod nano (1st gen):

It has a black or white plastic front and a silver metal back - later iPod nano models have a metal front and back. See images on this web page.
If you need assistance with placing an order, please visit an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) and bring your iPod nano with you for serial number validation.

Your replacement iPod is under warranty for 90 days from the date of service.

4 Things You Might Not Have Known About Your Cell Phone

For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:
  • Emergency
    • The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.
  • Hidden Battery Power
    • Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time.
  • How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
    • To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone: *#06# . A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.
    • If your phone is stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.
  • Free Directory Service for Cells
    • Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial: (800) FREE411 or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now. This is sponsored by McDonalds.

"LET'S TALK iPHONE" - iPHONE 4S OR iPHONE 5?

image via apple.com
"Let's talk iPhone" is the tag line of the conference with different media on October 04, 2011 at exactly 10:00 AM. The venue will be at Apple's campus in Cupertino, California. This was announced when Apple officially confirmed the said event. Invitations were already sent to many different media personnel.

This conference will be led by Tim Cook, the new CEO of Apple. Base on the reports, Apple didn't mentioned yet if what exactly will be discussed during the conference. But from the tag line itself, it surely will discuss about iPhone. It could be the modification of iPhone 4 that will be called as iPhone 4S or might be the upgraded version which is iPhone 5. This iPhone 5 said to be having a larger screen, thinner footprint, much better battery life, NFC capabilities, capable of LTE and might be more mystery capabilities. But what's for sure is that iPhone 5 will be using A5 SoC that can also be found from iPad 2.
